Haifa International and Children's Film Festival (Socuth)
From: Thursday, September 27 2007, 8:00 am
to: Thursday, October 4 2007, 5:00 pm
Every year during the Succoth holiday period (the Feast of the Tabernacle), film makers and cinema lovers from Middle Eastern countries and beyond flock to Israel's northern capital to share their love of the moving image.
Haifa Film Festival hosts a special 'Neighbours' forum in which films made in Mediterranean countries are premiered, screened and discussed. For this reason, the film festival is proud of its tradition in welcoming all peoples, cultures and religions and celebrates that diversity through film.
More than 100 new films will be shown at the festival, which welcomes a new festival home in the Bruce and Ruth Rappaport Art and Culture Centre. This has been recently renovated to improve the sound quality and a new cinema has been built to seat 500 people.
The film festival also runs a Children's' Film Festival in tandem. For the second year running, young viewers will find on offer a wide range of screenings which will provide something for everyone.
There will be open-air cinemas, jazz and blues concerts giving the film buffs among you the chance to tuck in and enjoy!
