A series of original works by modern Israeli writers are performed at Acre's Fringe Theatre Festival, which remains stalwartly at the vanguard of modern dramatic art in Israel (and quite a few shows are in English, for non-Hebrew speakers).
This annual theatrical event takes place during Sukkot, the Harvest Festival, which is celebrated throughout the country. People build huts and decorate them with fruit and vegetables to celebrate, with some choosing to spend the night in their creations.
