Clifden's Community Arts Festival returns in 2007 with a wide range of arts events and entertainment around the town.
A fitting end to the summer and a welcome to the autumn, this is one of Ireland's longest-running and most successful festivals. It has inspired countless other Irish events, bringing the arts, by way of music, song, dance, drama, poetry, readings and concerts, to parts of the country which otherwise might not get exposure.
The whole town of Clifden mucks in: expect art in all its guises, emanating from all age groups (all local schools get involved). There are plenty of literary readings and music, as well as an extensive theatre, dance and visual arts programme. Various exhibitions take place at venues in Clifden and the surrounding area - the majority of artwork is on display to the public at Clifden Community School, Ballyconneely Rd, Clifden, and West Connemara Leisure Centre (adjacent to the Community School) for the duration of Arts Week.
