Jazz giant and improviser extraordinaire, Sonny Rollins performs at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
The tenor saxophonist has had an illustrious career that began back in the Fifties. By his mid-twenties he had already recorded with the likes of Charlie Parker and Miles Davis and released solo albums on Blue Note, accompanied by trumpeter Donald Byrd and pianist Thelonius Monk.
Now in his seventies, Rollins continues to record regularly and remains a charismatic live performer despite his uncompromising stance toward musical creativity. However, if lightning strikes, the experience is unforgettable.
