Leipzig's competitive international festival of documentary and animated films screens around 300 films from 30 countries in cinemas around the city, including the CineStar and the Passage.
Founded in 1955, DOK gives out prizes ("Golden Doves" and "Silver Doves") for animations and docs and regularly attracts audiences of over 14,000. It also features themed retrospectives, country spotlights, a new filmmakers' night (First Flush) and a night dedicated to short films (Shockin' Local Short Night Shuffle).
This year's programme includes an overview of the most important German documentaries of the year, a retrospective on political documentaries and talks and discussion about where the modern documentary is heading.
