The Rome Film Festival is a brand-new cultural initiative encompassing screenings, exhibitions, panel discussions, concerts, fashion events and much more. The focal point of the event is the Auditorium Parco della Musica, but celebrations also take place at many other venues in Via Veneto, Cinecitta, Piazza del Popolo and beyond.
The festival has five main sections. Première Nights is dedicated to international first releases with their stars and directors in attendance. Actor's Craft pays homage to the masters of the art of acting through films, laboratories and workshops.
Within the Competition category, a selection of 14 unreleased films is screened in a quest to discover fresh talent. Interestingly, the jury consists of 50 film lovers, rather than professionals, who award the prizes for Best Film, Best Actor and Best Actress.
The fourth section, Extra, supports new forms of expression by showing a selection of international films, video games, documentaries and video clips featuring new trends in filmmaking. Finally, Alice in the City is a festival within the festival for young filmgoers, children and teenagers.
